FIC Board Changes
The Falkland Islands Company is pleased to announce that Dick Sawle, stands down from his position as FIC Chairman as he leaves The Falklands to live permanently in The UK, Dick commented:
“ I joined the board of the Falkland Islands Company in late 2014. The last eight years have seen some big changes made. The team, spearheaded by Kevin, and everyone involved in running the FIC have all been fantastic people to work with during that time. The progress made has been amazing and I wish the Company well for the future. I will always keep a fond eye on what is happening here in the Falklands and especially what is happening within the FIC.”
FIC Managing Director Kevin Ironside said:
‘’ Dick’s departure is not just a loss for The FIC, but for The Falklands too, he has played a large part in the community here, being involved in matters as diverse as amateur dramatics, singing in the choir and of course serving as a JP, I will miss him as a sounding board on a business front and for his engaging company, I wish him and his wife Judith well as the settle into life in Wales. ‘’
Andy Williams, FIC’s current manager of services is promoted and joins the FIC board as Director of Services, Andy will have responsibility for Falklands 4×4, the FIC Shipping Agency, Falklands Removals, Penguin Travel and a new department being set up to manage the FIC fleet of in excess of 170 units.
On his promotion Andy commented;
“It came as a huge surprise to be asked to fulfil such an important role within the Falkland Islands Company.
I’ve gratefully accepted the position and hope I can make a difference in continuing to move the FIC forward and inspire others to follow my path.
I have a great team around me and we have many challenges which I’m sure we will overcome, the future certainly looks bright and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Kevin Ironside stated:
“ I am delighted to announce Andy’s well deserved promotion joining the board of The FIC, the challenges brought by COVID have had a huge effect on particularly our agency and tourism operations, Andy is the right person to drive, particularly these areas forwards as the world once more starts to reopen and allow The Falklands to again welcome visitors, Falklands 4×4 will benefit from his natural interest in vehicles, it is always good news when we, as a business can promote from within, demonstrating to our c 250 colleagues that there are opportunities for everyone should they want them. ‘’
Mr Ironside also announced that Martyn Wallbank, currently FIC large Projects Director , becomes FIC Director of Infrastructure with overall responsibility for construction, civils and the FIC property portfolio, ‘’Martyn joined the FIC some six months ago as we geared up for large projects such as the seventy house contract that was won, constructing new housing for FIG and the MOD, as we look to the future it is off great benefit to have someone of Martyn’s ability based in Stanley to support our growing business’’
