Text of a letter from the Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt. Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, to St Helena Speaker, Cyril Gunnell.

On behalf of the House of Commons of the UK Parliament and the peoples of the United Kingdom, I would like to thank you for your kind letter of condolences at this saddest of times.

The warmth of your words are indeed words of strength and support to us here in Westminster and across the whole of the United Kingdom and all other Overseas Territories.

Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will always be remembered for her steadfast dedication and duty to her country, the Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth of Nations.

For many, they have known no other monarch, so long was her reign.

We would like to thank you, members of the House of the Legislative Council and the people of Saint Helena for this show of support, gratitude and thanks to the work and life of Her late Majesty.

Your letter will be shared on the UK Parliament website so that all will be able to view the kind messages which have been received.

Sincerely,

Rt. Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP,

Speaker of the House of Commons
