Further confirmed avian influenza (bird flu) cases
On Tuesday 12 November 2024 swabs from Gentoo penguins from Yorke Bay, returned positive results for highly pathogenic avian influenza.
A level 1 response will be followed for both areas, which includes adhering to biosecurity guidance. This guidance can be found here: https://falklands.gov.fk/agriculture/avian-influenza
The Declarations will be reviewed on Monday 27 November.
The public are reminded to NOT TOUCH dead or sick birds but report them to the Veterinary Services on 27366 or 55366 out of hours.
