New confirmed avian influenza (bird flu) cases

 

On Friday 20th December 2024 swabs from Gentoo penguins at Albemarle returned positive results for highly pathogenic avian influenza.

 

A level 1 response will be followed, which includes adhering to biosecurity guidance. This guidance can be found here: https://falklands.gov.fk/agriculture/avian-influenza

 

The Declaration will be reviewed on Wednesday 8^th January.

 

The public are reminded to NOT TOUCH dead or sick birds but report them to the Veterinary Services on 27366 or 55366 out of hours.
