Animal Health (Emergency Measures for Outbreaks of Infectious Diseases) Order 2022 article 5 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Declaration of infected place

 

  1. This is a declaration under article 5(4) (declaration of infected place) of the Animal Health (Emergency Measures for Outbreaks of Infectious Diseases) Order 2022 (“the Order”) by Andrea Patricia Clausen, Director of Natural Resources (“the Director”).

 

  1. The Director declares the area known as Whale Point (Kelp Point), Fitzroy Farm, East Falkland, at co-ordinates 51° 49′ 46.8372” S, 58° 14′ 20.8536” W, as marked on the map in the Schedule, to be an infected place (“the premises”).

 

  1. This declaration is made on the grounds that the Senior Veterinary Officer of the Falkland Islands Government has concluded that highly pathogenic avian influenza exists or has in the previous 56 days been present on the premises.

 

  1. While this declaration is in force, the restrictions or requirements in paragraphs 5, 6 and 7 being measures to be taken to contain and limit the spread of disease, apply.

 

  1. (1) The following must comply with biosecurity guidance during the period of operation of this declaration –– (a) any person entering or leaving the premises; (b) any person who has charge of animals; and (c) any person who is under the direction of a person mentioned in subparagraphs (a) and (b).   1. Any person in the infected place must remain at least 5 metres away from any wildlife. 7. Any research that involves handling of wildlife (unless directly related to HPAI) must cease during the time this declaration is in force. 8.
