On Saturday 25th January 2025, Tristan celebrated its beloved Annual Sheep Shearing Day – a much-anticipated event filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit. Families gathered at the sheep pen to shear their flocks, marking the day with hard work and plenty of joy.

The children had a blast running around the pen, chasing and catching lambs, adding to the lively atmosphere. Once the shearing was complete, the Agricultural Department stepped in to treat the sheep, ensuring they were protected against flies.

The weather was as unpredictable as ever, shifting from blazing sunshine to windy chills with bursts of rain. But the changing skies didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! After the shearing was done, people headed back from the patches to the settlement and gathered with family and friends to enjoy braais and catch up.

Sheep Shearing Day is truly one of the island’s best family events, bringing everyone together to share in the tradition and create cherished memories.
