The Legislative Assembly marks Commonwealth Day
Today the Falkland Islands proudly joins nations across the globe in celebrating Commonwealth Day, reaffirming our shared values of democracy, peace, and cooperation with the 56 member states of the Commonwealth.
This year’s theme, Together We Thrive, highlights the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing global challenges, from climate change to economic development, and celebrates the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth Family.
As a proud and active member of the Commonwealth, the Falkland Islands remains committed to fostering international partnerships, promoting self-determination, and ensuring a prosperous future for our people.
To mark the occasion, the Union Flag was raised alongside the Falkland Islands flag on Victory Green at 815am, with MLAs and Acting Governor Dave Morgan in attendance, symbolising our continued dedication to the principles and values that unite the Commonwealth family.
The Legislative Assembly encourages the community to take a moment today to reflect on the bonds of friendship, shared history, and aspirations that connect the Falkland Islands to millions of people worldwide.
