New FIG Construction Partnership Awarded To RSK Falkland Islands Ltd
Executive Council has agreed this week that the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) will award a new construction partnership framework to RSK Falkland Islands Ltd (RSK), subject to contract negotiation.
Following a competitive international tender process, the new partnership contract will be set for a period of five years, with the potential for five additional extensions of one year each, allowing FIG to maintain long-term continuity and flexibility in the delivery of vital infrastructure projects for the Falkland Islands.
The construction partnership framework provides a strategic partner to support FIG through the project lifecycle – from early design stages, through construction, commissioning, and completion. RSK will continue to offer a comprehensive suite of services including civil engineering, mechanical and electrical design support, and construction. The ability to subcontract specialised services further enhances their capability to deliver across the wide-ranging demands of FIG’s capital programme.
The partnership contract has been managed by Morrison Falklands Limited/RSK Falklands Limited since its creation in 1999 and it has been an important element of FIG’s ability to develop and deliver capital works in the Falkland Islands for over 25 years.
MLA Peter Biggs, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Public Infrastructure, said: “The Falkland Islands Government remains committed to investing in strategic infrastructure and is confident that this renewed partnership with RSK will continue to deliver tangible benefits. This renewed agreement will provide FIG with the construction expertise and experience to allow the continuous delivery of our capital projects, support in design development with internal stakeholders and suppliers, and will allow us to meet the requirements of the Islands Plan”.
Jim Steele, Managing Director of RSK Falkland Islands Ltd, added: “Our team are delighted to have been selected to continue our 26-year relationship with the Falkland Island Government. This gives us the opportunity to continue to utilise our skills and experience, supported by the RSK Group, to deliver civil engineering and building projects in the Falkland Islands. Our mission is to continue to provide quality construction solutions, utilising Island-based resources to meet the needs of the people of the Falkland Islands”.
