FPV Lilibet Crew Recognised

At a ceremony in central London yesterday, the Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariners Royal Benevolent Society recognised notable achievements amongst the British maritime community. Amongst the recipients of awards were FPV Lilibet’s crew of July 2024 for their skill, professionalism and stamina in extremely hostile conditions during the FV Argos Georgia Search and Rescue response, for which FPV Lilibet acted as On Scene Coordinator.

Captain Ben Blackburn received the Society’s ‘Emile Robin Award’ for his leadership during the incident and also received, on behalf of his crew, individual ‘Crew Commendations’ for their outstanding actions and teamwork.

Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of those who lost their lives as a result of the sinking of the FV Argos Georgia. Amidst the tragic loss, 14 lives were saved and the Falkland Islands Government would like, on behalf of the community as a whole, to congratulate Captain Ben and his team for their well-deserved awards, whilst also noting with gratitude the superb efforts of others also involved in the response, ashore, afloat and in the air, at home and overseas.
